A rare English Needlework Embroidered Stumpwork casket Circa 1660
The more unusual type with the walnut banded edges
16″ Wide 11″ Deep 7″ Tall
Needlework panels all round with figures and insects, flowers and a biblical depiction to the box lid, front box with the Lady and Gentleman are stumpwork so they stand proud of the box
The interior has lost its mirror and has some wear and losses as shown in the pictures. The exterior has the usual wear, losses and fading to the needlework with some losses to the silk backing and walnut edging but as you can see its still in good displayable condition for a 350 year old item!
